The Invisible Threat

This project looks at the hidden problem of microplastic pollution in our oceans by combining two very different types of images. Each page pairs a seascape photo with a microscopic image of plastic collected from the surrounding location.

The aim is to show the contrast between what we see and what’s really there. Peaceful, beautiful coastlines hiding tiny traces of pollution. By putting these images side by side, it will draw attention to the scale of the issue and make people think about the invisible impact we’re having on the environment.

The process involved visiting coastal locations, collecting samples, and using microscopy to photograph the plastic fragments. It’s a mix of science and photography, using visual storytelling to raise awareness of the invisible threat in a more personal and thought-provoking way.
